Keeley's Training Update

Keeley has been working hard on her training this week. She is learning her name, to watch me, sit, kennel and we are working on play retrieving. She is doing really well and has picked up watch exceptionally well. She looks at me adoringly all the time now. Of course in reality she is waiting for a click and treat but I like to think it is just because she loves me. I have also realized that it is not easy to take a video and clicker train at the same time.

Photos of the Day

Grandma Tiga Playing with Keeley

I love the way Tiga teases Keeley into playing with her. She starts out gentle and lets Keeley have her way and then she flips the switch and takes control.

Crate Training Accomplished

A few days ago I was working on the computer and Keeley was asleep at my feet. I looked down a few minutes later and she was gone. I called and she didn't come. I looked all over the main level and couldn't find her. I went upstairs and couldn't find her. Finally, I looked in the last spot I would have expected to find her.

She had just taken it upon herself to put herself to bed.

Keeley is already able to go up and down the stairs.
Going up seems to be a breeze and requires no communication.

Going down seems to require a little more care and a lot more noise. We are not sure if she is just trying to get us to notice her or if she is telling the stairs that she totally dominates them.

Is she a show off or a braggart?
Given what we have seen of her personality so far, it is probably a little bit of both.

Today's Photos

Hanging with Grandma is almost as good as hanging with Mom.

I love her face - it is so expressive.
Not really sure what this expression is but it does look a little demented.

Here she looks just like the little angel she is.

Charlie and Tyler

Charlie graduated with Tyler tonight. For those of you who don't know Charlie he is the Helping Paws dog we have been training to be a service dog for the last two and a half years. He completed his training, was matched with Tyler and they just graduated tonight from the three week team training course. Charlie is Keeley's Uncle, Tiga's son and has been with us since birth. We are so proud of him and so happy he was matched with Tyler. WCCO has been following Tyler's story since September and tonight Charlie became part of that story. Hopefully in a few years Keeley will become a Helping Paws breeding dog and have lots of puppies that will also grow up to become life changing gifts. That is the long term goal. The short term goal is just to get her to stop biting us.
